Some time back, I started playing a game called Bubble Planet. It was a nice game, the usual shoot-the-bubbles stuff, but something about it really disturbed me.Every time I beat someone else's score, a window would pop open to say "Congratulations! You stole So-and-so's crown!" and then invite me to click on a "Brag" button so that I could post this information on their page.
It doesn't look like a big deal, but I think it is. I think it reeks of the awful attitude so much of society has, about about winning and success. We're so used to it, I doubt most people think twice when they get this message. But think about it. Stealing someone's crown is something to be congratulated over? Defeating someone is a good reason to gloat?
